Baelor I

Baelor the Beloved

Character Overview

Baelor I, remembered as Baelor the Blessed, was both king and religious exemplar. The five main novels recall him through his Great Sept, saintly reputation, ascetic rule, and sharply divided judgments: smallfolk revere a holy king while nobles and later speakers call some choices folly. He functions less as a complete biography than as a measure of how faith, charity, and royal coercion can occupy the same reign.
