    Frequently Asked Questions
    What is the Relationship Graph?
The Relationship Graph visually maps connections between characters in A Song of Ice and Fire — including family ties, marriages, alliances, rivalries, and more. Each node represents a character, and each edge (line) represents a relationship.
Where does the data come from?
All relationships are sourced from the original text (from A Game of Thrones through A Dance with Dragons) and manually curated. We cross-reference family trees, appendices, and in-text mentions to ensure accuracy.
Can I search for a specific character?
Absolutely! Use the character search bar or click one of the Quick Focus shortcuts to jump to major characters. If a character isn't in the current subgraph, the graph will automatically switch to the relevant subgraph.
What do the different line types mean?
Edges represent different relationship types: Parent-Child (solid), Marriage (pink), Siblings (dashed gray), Kin (dotted), Romance, Lord / Sworn Sword, Mentorship, Patronage, and Rivalry / Enmity. Click a relationship type label in the legend to toggle its visibility on or off.
How do I use the Custom Subgraph feature?
Click 'Custom Subgraph' to select specific characters and generate a focused graph showing only their relationships. Premium users can select unlimited characters.
Can I export or share the graph?
Export functionality is available for premium users, allowing you to download the current graph as a PNG image for sharing, presentations, or reference.

House Stark rules the North from Winterfell, a lineage stretching back eight thousand years. Eddard (Ned) Stark and Catelyn Tully raised five children — Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran, and Rickon — alongside Ned's bastard son Jon Snow. Beyond the Wall, the wildlings and the Night's Watch hold the northern frontier against ancient terrors.

The great houses of Westeros are bound by marriage and blood. Robert Baratheon's marriage to Cersei Lannister united Storm's End and Casterly Rock after the rebellion. House Tyrell of the Reach, House Martell of Dorne, and House Greyjoy of the Iron Islands each pursue their own ambitions. Daenerys Targaryen, last scion of the deposed dragonlords, rises in Essos to reclaim the Iron Throne.

This graph captures over 15 noble houses and 300+ relationship edges. Eddard Stark's retinue includes Jory Cassel, Vayon Poole, and his ward Theon Greyjoy. King Robert's Small Council — Littlefinger, Varys, Grand Maester Pycelle, and Renly Baratheon — forms a web of intrigue. The Kingsguard, sworn to protect the monarch, are bound by sacred vows.

At the heart of the narrative lies the War of the Five Kings: Robb Stark marches south to avenge his father, Stannis and Renly Baratheon vie for the throne, and Balon Greyjoy declares himself King of the Iron Islands. The graph traces these alliances and betrayals — the Red Wedding, the Lannister-Tyrell pact, and the emerging threat of the Others beyond the Wall — across 30+ relationship types.
