Character Overview

Aegon III, Rhaenyra's son, inherited the Iron Throne after the Dance and became known as the Dragonbane. The five main novels repeatedly connect his reign with the death of the last dragon, yet preserve competing formulations: some blame the king, while others only date the loss to his rule. They do not supply a complete account of his childhood, regency, or motives, making the nickname evidence of memory rather than proof of causation.
