The character in context

Tommen, Cersei and Jaime’s youngest child, succeeds Joffrey under the public identity of Robert’s son. Fond of kittens and games, he must learn kingship amid competing demands from mother, wife and council. Marriage to Margaery sustains the Tyrell alliance while deepening Cersei’s fear of losing control. His attempts to express a will of his own meet adult punishment and management. He remains king at the close of the five novels.
