Thoros of Myr

The character in context

Sent from Myr to preach in King's Landing, Thoros instead becomes Robert's drinking companion and a tourney celebrity with wildfire swords. Eddard assigns him to Beric's mission against Gregor. After Beric first dies, Thoros performs a routine last kiss that unexpectedly restores him, renewing the faith of a priest who considered himself a failure. He cannot explain the power and must live with its consequences. Under Lady Stoneheart, he admits to Brienne that their justice has curdled and war makes monsters even of would-be heroes.
