The character in context

Balon’s son grows up at Winterfell as a hostage after the Greyjoy rebellion. During the war he turns toward his birth family and captures Winterfell, seeking recognition among the ironborn. Ramsay later tortures him and forces the identity of Reek upon him. In A Dance with Dragons he helps Jeyne Poole, who is being passed off as Arya Stark, escape the castle.
