The character in context

Shireen, the only child of Stannis and Selyse, survives greyscale in infancy, leaving stone-like scars across her face and neck. Educated by maesters on Dragonstone, she keeps company with Patchface and becomes happier when Edric arrives. In the north she meets the giant Wun Wun at Castle Black, while Val treats her scars as a danger. Shireen remains alive at the end of the five novels. She does not teach Davos to read, and the adaptation's burning and invented lessons are outside her published story.
