The character in context

Robb is Eddard and Catelyn’s eldest son, acclaimed king by northern and river lords after his father’s execution. Success in battle does not free him from dependence on his bannermen and marriage alliances. His wedding to Jeyne Westerling breaks his promise to House Frey. Edmure’s wedding offers a chance to repair that alliance but becomes a trap: Robb is murdered at the Twins during the Red Wedding. His story exposes the distance between winning battles and sustaining a kingdom.
