The character in context

Qyburn loses his maester’s chain for experiments on living people and joins the Brave Companions. Treating Jaime’s wound opens a route into Lannister service. Cersei relies on his intelligence work and secret experiments, giving him prisoners and the wounded Gregor. He later supplies Robert Strong as her protector. The novels convey that figure’s origins through hints and questions rather than a fully disclosed procedure.
