Pypar

The character in context

Pypar, usually called Pyp, brings a performer’s mimicry and humor to the Watch. He helps Jon and Grenn protect Sam and joins the friends who stop Jon deserting. During the siege he takes on real defensive and command duties. Jon’s election creates distance between old companions; jokes about religious ritual draw a rebuke, and Pyp is assigned to Eastwatch. The five novels do not give him a death in the battle at the Wall.
