The character in context

Oberyn, Doran’s brother and the Red Viper, comes to King’s Landing seeking accountability for Elia and her children as well as a council seat. He volunteers to champion Tyrion and confronts Gregor. His spear wounds the larger man, but he insists on extracting a confession about Elia and is killed in Gregor’s counterattack. His death does not settle the grievance; it gives Dorne another loss around which demands for war gather.
