The character in context

Taken from Naath as a child, Missandei translates for slavers before Daenerys frees her. She chooses to remain as interpreter, herald and a close daily companion. Her brother’s murder exposes the insecurity and continuing violence beneath liberation. After Daenerys leaves, she remains in the pyramid and helps care for the wounded. She is still a child in the novels, without the adaptation’s romance or execution.
