The character in context

Lancel, Kevan’s eldest son, serves Robert and supplies strong wine on the hunt at Cersei’s direction. His relationship with her gives Tyrion a means to blackmail him. After being wounded at the Blackwater, he turns toward guilt and religious austerity, confesses to Jaime, and abandons marriage and lands for the Faith Militant. Repentance loosens some family obligations while turning concealed royal secrets into instruments of public conflict.
