The character in context

Jory Cassel is captain of Winterfell's household guard, Ser Rodrik's nephew and a confidant trusted by Eddard with both inquiries and family matters. He travels south with the Starks, finds Arya after the Trident incident and investigates traces left by Jon Arryn in King's Landing. Jaime attacks Eddard's party in retaliation for Tyrion's capture and kills Jory himself. The death turns intimidation between great houses into a cost paid by retainers and strips another layer from Eddard's already thin protection in the capital.
