The character in context

Jon, Lord of the Eyrie, fosters Eddard and Robert and rebels when Aerys demands that he surrender his wards. After Robert takes the throne, Jon serves for years as Hand. Late in life he and Stannis investigate the royal children's parentage, consulting a genealogy and visiting Robert's bastards, but he dies before disclosing the result. A letter first directs blame toward the Lannisters. Lysa later admits before Sansa that she poisoned Jon at Petyr's instruction, making his investigation and death sources of both truth and misdirection.
