The character in context

Jaqen H'ghar is the name used by a dangerous prisoner taken from King's Landing's black cells and sent north with Yoren. After Arya saves him and two companions from a burning cage, he says the red god is owed three lives and kills at her naming. When her third name is Jaqen himself, he helps free the northern captives. Before leaving Harrenhal he changes his face and gives Arya an iron coin. The Oldtown alchemist and the false Pate share identifying clues with him, but the novels never explicitly confirm they are the same person.
