The character in context

Gregor's immense size and reputation as the Mountain make him an instrument of Lannister terror. He kills Elia and her child during the sack of King's Landing, then leads the burning of the riverlands; Eddard strips his titles and sends men to arrest him. In Tyrion's trial, Oberyn forces a confession before Gregor kills him. Oberyn's poison leaves Gregor screaming while Qyburn experiments on him. A skull sent to Dorne and the silent Robert Strong create a powerful implication, but the five novels do not explicitly confirm their identity.
