The character in context

Elia, sister to Doran and Oberyn, marries Rhaegar and bears Rhaenys and Aegon. At Harrenhal she sees her husband crown Lyanna queen of love and beauty. Aerys later keeps Elia and her children in King's Landing as leverage over Dorne. When the city falls, Gregor kills her and the children; Oberyn demands his confession during Tyrion's trial by combat. Elia has no viewpoint chapter, so her life is reconstructed through survivors' memories, political claims and acts of vengeance.
