Drogo

Power, marriage and vulnerability

The character in context

Drogo commands a vast khalasar and has never cut his braid in defeat. Viserys marries the young Daenerys to him in exchange for a promised army; the marriage begins as a transaction marked by fear, though Daenerys learns the language and gains influence within the khalasar. After an attempt on her life, Drogo vows to cross the sea and conquer Westeros. A wound from combat worsens, and Mirri's ritual leaves only an unresponsive body. Daenerys ends his life herself.
