The character in context

A smuggler from King’s Landing, Davos earns a knighthood by provisioning besieged Storm’s End, while Stannis also punishes his smuggling by shortening his fingers. After the Blackwater defeat he becomes Hand and helps Edric Storm escape the threat of sacrifice. Sent to White Harbor, he encounters a different kind of negotiation over northern support for Stannis.
