Daeron II

The character in context

Daeron II inherits the divided court left by Aegon IV and brings Dorne peacefully into the Seven Kingdoms through his marriage to Myriah Martell and his sister Daenerys's marriage to Prince Maron. He preserves the grants made to the Great Bastards, yet Daemon Blackfyre challenges his throne with Blackfyre, martial prestige and rumors about Daeron's birth. Victory on the Redgrass Field secures Daeron's dynasty without erasing the Blackfyre cause. He later dies in the Great Spring Sickness; his father's doubts about his parentage remain political accusations rather than proven history.
