The character in context

Daario turns the Stormcrows to Daenerys after killing their other two leaders. His military usefulness and boldness attract her, while his proposals to solve political problems through slaughter trouble her. They become lovers, but the peace at Meereen requires a different marriage and sends him to the Yunkai’i as a hostage. That crisis remains unresolved at the fifth novel’s end; the television arrangement for him to govern Meereen does not apply.
