The character in context

Robert’s queen and Jaime’s twin is the mother of three royal children fathered by Jaime. After Robert’s death, she contests power as regent for Joffrey and then Tommen. Suspicion of Tyrion and the Tyrells shapes her decisions. Restoring the Faith Militant is meant to strengthen her position, but the religious authorities she empowers eventually imprison her.
