What resurrection erodes

The character in context

Beric rides under Eddard's command to arrest Gregor for ravaging the riverlands, but dies after the ambush at the Mummer's Ford. Thoros's funeral prayer unexpectedly restores him. Each return leaves Beric with a more damaged body and less memory of his former life. He leads the brotherhood without banners in protecting smallfolk and judging raiders. Thoros later tells Brienne that Beric finally passed his life-fire to Catelyn, ending his repeated resurrections.
