The character in context

Areo comes from Norvos, where bearded priests train him before he accompanies Mellario to Dorne and becomes Doran’s captain of guards. He watches the Martell children grow and feels paternal affection for Arianne, yet obeys Doran against her. At the Greenblood he kills the charging Arys while stopping the crowning plot. His viewpoint makes loyalty visible as observation and force. The pursuit of Darkstar has no published resolution.
