Character Overview

The only surviving son of Lord Hoster Tully and heir to Riverrun, Edmure defended the Riverlands during the War of the Five Kings, where he was captured by Jaime Lannister before being rescued in the Battle of the Camps. He repelled Tywin Lannister at the Red Fork in the Battle of the Stone Mill, unwittingly spoiling Robb Stark's strategy to trap the Lannister army in the west. To mend the broken alliance with House Frey, he wed Roslin Frey at the Twins and was taken hostage during the Red Wedding. Subjected to daily gallows threats during the subsequent siege of Riverrun, Edmure surrendered the castle to Jaime while facilitating the escape of Brynden the Blackfish, before being sent captive toward Casterly Rock.
