Lannister Family Tree

Explore selected House Lannister family connections among Tywin, Cersei, Jaime, Tyrion, Joffrey, and their relatives in an interactive genealogy.

Read house background

House Lannister of Casterly Rock is the wealthiest family in Westeros — and one of the most dangerous. A Lannister family tree helps untangle the web of ambition, secrets, and blood ties that drives much of the conflict in A Song of Ice and Fire.

The Lions of the Rock

The Lannisters are defined by Tywin Lannister, the calculating patriarch who rebuilt his house from ridicule to dominance. His children — the twins Cersei and Jaime, and the outcast Tyrion — each carve their own path through the story, and their relationships with each other and with the Iron Throne shape the fate of the realm. Tywin's father Tytos Lannister nearly bankrupted the family's reputation with weakness; Tywin's brother Kevan Lannister served as his most reliable lieutenant; and their sister Genna Lannister offers a sharp-tongued view of the family from the inside. The next generation — Lancel Lannister among them — struggles under the weight of the family name.

What This Tree Shows

This interactive view maps the Lannister bloodline from Tytos through Tywin and his siblings to the present generation. It also includes the family's most feared enforcers — Gregor Clegane (the Mountain) and Sandor Clegane (the Hound) — whose ties to House Lannister are bonds of service rather than blood, but whose actions are inseparable from the family's story.

The Lannisters always pay their debts. Explore the tree to see who owes what to whom.
